Understanding How To Learn

When I started college, I quickly realized that the rest of my class was far ahead of me. In addition to struggling to understand the material, I also had a hard time working in group settings and understanding how the lectures tied to the homework. After failing my first two semesters, a helpful counselor asked me to sign up for a study habits class. In the class, I learned how to apply myself in formal educational settings, which really helped. I think that everyone should take the time to understand how to learn, so that they can be successful in their classes.

CPR Training: Frequently Asked Questions

Lewis Thompson

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a popular technique to treat someone suffering from cardiac episodes. When CPR is properly administered, it can potentially restore the heart's beat. In turn, the heart can once again pump blood to the rest of the body. Heart problems are very serious and require immediate attention, not leaving much time to get patients to the hospital. Outside of the hospital, CPR works up to 10% of the time, making it a viable option in an emergency. Proper training drastically increases the chance of CPR working. Learn more about CPR certification training.

Who should take CPR classes?

Everyone should take CPR classes! You never know when someone may need CPR. However, there are certain vocations/industries that may require CPR training or where CPR training may come in especially handy:

  • Medical staff
  • Lifeguard
  • Teachers
  • Senior care
  • Food service

Who offers CPR classes?

The American Red Cross is one of the most popular CPR certification programs. However, there are other medical centers that offer CPR classes, too. If you need a certification for work, be sure to verify the requirements before signing up for CPR classes.

How long does it take to get a CPR certification?

It doesn't take very long to get CPR training! In fact, you can receive your certification in just a couple of hours. Search the Red Cross website to find classes in your area. We recommend planning your training as early as possible, as you may need to schedule your session for weeks in the future, depending on your location.

The Red Cross offers CPR training programs for adults and children online and in person. For official certification, you will need to attend in-person training.

How much does it cost to get CPR training?

The cost of your CPR training largely depends on the type of class you choose. Most classes cost between $55 - $90. Ask your employer if they will compensate you for the cost. There are also government programs and insurance policies that may cover the cost, especially if you or someone in your household has a heart condition.

How long does my CPR certification last?

A Red Cross CPR certification lasts two years. After the two years expire, you will need to recertify. Luckily, there are easy ways to recertify online in most cases. If you do not recertify, your certificate will be invalid after two years.

Don't wait until it's too late. Sign up for CPR training today.
